Throughout the year, the weather is generally excellent with minimal risk of storms during the summer. The hottest months are April and May, while December to February is considered the ‘coolest’ and wettest time.

The “high season” for tourism is typically from the middle of December to early May. However, the area remains busy on weekends all year round and during Asian holidays. If you plan to visit during Christmas, Chinese New Year, or Easter, it’s best to book your accommodation well in advance to secure your stay.

Paying

Please note that in Moalboal, most establishments and restaurants do not accept cards as a form of payment. It is advisable to have enough cash on hand for your transactions during your stay. While ATM machines are available in the area, it’s always a good idea to bring some extra cash in Peso or any major currency as a precautionary measure. Plan ahead and ensure you have sufficient funds to enjoy your time in Moalboal without any inconvenience.

However, for those who require constant online access throughout the day, we recommend purchasing a local sim card. The two main providers in the area are Globe and Smart. You can easily find sim packs at convenience stores nearby. This way, you can enjoy seamless communication and stay connected during your time in Moalboal.

Health and Medicine

In Moalboal, you can find medical providers including doctors and clinics that can help with minor illnesses. Malaria is not present in the area, but dengue can be a concern, especially during rainy times. It is recommended to get inoculations for Hepatitis A, Typhoid, Polio, and Tetanus before traveling, but always consult with your doctor for personalized advice.

If you are susceptible to sunburns or insect bites, make sure to bring high-factor sun creams and insect repellent. The weather is usually warm, so you’ll mostly need shorts and t-shirts for clothing.

For common medications like antibiotics or aspirin, you can easily find them in Moalboal’s pharmacies, and they are usually much more affordable than in Western countries.

In case of emergencies, some hospitals in Cebu City meet western standards, providing a reliable option for serious medical issues.
